The 2009 Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Writers Conference, hosted by the University of North Texas, will feature This American Life‘s Ira Glass as well as celebrated travel writer Paul Theroux and Latin American journalist Alma Guillermoprieto.

Since its inception five years ago, the conference has brought in major journalists and long-form nonfiction writers, including Gay Talese, Roy Blount and Susan Orlean, and mixed them together with UNT faculty, students and would-be writers from the North Texas area. The weekend features lectures, panel discussions and dinners discussing everything from magazine reporting and memoirs to histories,  personal journals and beginner’s tips.

This year’s conference will be held July 24-26 at the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center. To register, visit www.themayborn.unt.edu
