Jerome and I will be waking up early and applying lots of caffeine to bring your round-up while Stephen is in Austin at South by Southwest. Jerome and I will be waking up early and applying lots of caffeine to bring your round-up while Stephen is in Austin at South by Southwest.

UPDATE: Clearly it takes two of us to match one of Stephen’s daily doses. Or we need more caffeine.

Here goes:

Track by Track podcast: take 2: Paul Slavens brings his second podcast, an interview with Bosque Brown’s Mara Lee Miller. Together, they walk through the new album Baby Check it out and enjoy Miller’s distinctive, raspy-in-a-good-way voice.

William Kentridge retrospective: Why should you care about this New York Times piece about the survey of this South African artist’s work at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art?

1.) Kentridge has developed his own form of animation, works in film, creates opera and theater sets, draws and generally “has an old-fashioned, Picasso-like knack for transforming everything he touches.”

2.) His latest work, part of a staging for an upcoming Metropolitan Opera production, is a piece of animation starring…. a nose.

3.) The retropsective is coming to the Modern Art Museum of Ft. Worth on July 12.

Raves for Adele: The British soul singer’s sold-out show at the Granada sure went over well with Star-Telegram/DFW.com’s Preston Jones. Comparing her to Nina Simone and Sarah Vaughan, he predicts that the show will rank as one of 2009’s best.   “The year is only three months old, but mark this down: A star has arrived.” Couldn’t find Observer or DMN reviews, but here’s Michael Roberts pre-show interview with Adele and here’s Mario Tarradell’s.
