SHADES OF ‘GREY’: If there’s one theater production this season that seems to be on everyone’s lips, it’s Grey Gardens at WaterTower Theatre. Jerome reviews it today for KERA radio (you can listen to it and read a collection of other glowing reviews here.) And now there are a pair of Q&A’s out there to take you behind the scenes of the show. Dallas playwright Vicki Caroline Cheatwood interviews playwright (and Highland Park native) Doug Wright for Art&Seek, while Elaine Liner shares an e-mail exchange with one of the show’s stars, Diana Sheehan, over at theaterjones.com. That ought to be plenty to get you up to speed.

PAN AMERICAN CLOSES: Pan American Art Projects announced this week that it is closing its Dragon Street doors. It joins Gerald Peters Gallery, CADD Art Lab and And/Or Gallery in the parade of shuttered art spaces in recent months. “My understanding is that everyone is struggling,” Pan American Assistant Director Caroline Belanger tells dallasnews.com. The gallery will hold a final show, featuring the work of Ellen Frances Tuchman, which will open later this month.

THE FIRST ART: Choosing pieces of art to display in your home, much less a gallery, is a tricky task. So I can’t imagine the difficulty of decorating the White House. But that’s the minefield the Obamas recently waded through, and this week, they released a list of works that they have borrowed from various museums to display in their new home. The Washington Post tries to make sense of the selections. And as you could guess, politics (or at least a perception of politics) can be read into every choice. I think it would have been funny if the Obamas would have slid one of these in there just to see how it was interpreted.
