Danielle Talks Dance (and Art) at the DMA

by Stephen Becker 3 Nov 2009

You’ve read her writing about dance on the Art&Seek blog (most recently here and here). And now you can hear her talk about her passion in the flesh. Danielle Georgiou will lead a gallery walk on Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at the Dallas Museum of Art titled “Discovering the Other Through Movement and the Visual Arts.”

CTA TBD

You’ve read her writing about dance on the Art&Seek blog (most recently here and here). And now you can hear her talk about her passion in the flesh. Danielle Georgiou will lead a gallery walk on Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at the Dallas Museum of Art titled “Discovering the Other Through Movement and the Visual Arts.” It’s part of the museum’s current “All the World’s a Stage” exhibition devoted to the performing arts.

And Danielle knows of which she will speak. In addition to being a dance lecturer at UTA, she’s also a member of Muscle Memory Dance Theatre. She says in an e-mail that her talk will focus on, “the process of becoming the other through movement and the visual arts,”  her own choreographic process that encourages her students to, “embrace the characters they are asked to portray” and her own personal creative process as a dancer.

If you’ve never attended a gallery walk, they’re a lot of fun and pretty informal with lots of discussion. I led one this summer, and I think I learned as much from the people taking the walk with me as they (hopefully) did from me.
