HEARTS OF GLASS: Dennis and Barbara Dubois’ collection of glass sculptures started innocently enough when Dennis bought his wife a pair of glass perfume bottles. Nearly 25 years later, the DuBois have acquired more than 320 works in glass. Highlights of their collection were recently on view at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and now they’ve invited dallasnews.com to their North Dallas home for a closer look.
MASTER CLASS: Anyone who’s seen Betty Buckley sing knows that she knows her way around a song. And now the Fort Worth native is returning to her hometown to show you how to sing one, too. The Tony Award winner will teach a six-session song-interpretation class this month at Fort Worth Community Arts Center. Click here to learn how to attend.
ON TO 2010: I enjoyed Scott Cantrell’s seven wishes for North Texas’ classical music scene on Sunday. It was interesting to read that two of his hopes involved sound quality – as in a better-sounding home for the Meadows Symphony and better acoustics at the Eisemann Center. Too bad everyone can’t just perform at the Winspear or Meyerson.
