LOTS OF LOCAL TRACKS: If you’re wondering what some of the best local music acts have been up to lately, you’ve got a couple places to go. Paul Slavens gets together with Robert Gomez to discuss his new album, Pine Sticks and Phosphorus, in this week’s Track by Track podcast. And quickdfw.com has got a slew of unreleased songs from Nervous Curtains, RTB2, Smile Smile and many others. Those artists were nice enough to send along their new stuff for Quick’s Hot and Fresh Week. By my count, there’s 10 or so tracks to listen to over there, so between them and the new Slavens podcast, count on having your ear buds in at work today.
WEEKEND CONCERT REVIEWS: Some pretty big names swept through town over the weekend for performances. If you missed them, read the review of Morrissey at the Palladium Ballroom here, Bob Newhart at Bass Hall here and Nickelback at Superpages.com Center here.
BEHIND THE SCENES AT FW OPERA: Fort Worth Opera General Director Darren K. Woods writes on his blog that one day you might see his company on TV. FWO has been approached by a television production company interested in doing a behind-the-scenes show on how an opera comes together. So as FWO prepares for its upcoming season, cameras are rolling to prepare a sizzle reel to take around to potential cable networks like A&E, Bravo, etc. If one of them takes the hook, then the cameras will return to dig deep into preparations for the 2010 season. After the season, the doc or reality show or whatever it turns out to be would hit the airwaves.
