Congratulations to Sarah Philipson of Dallas, the winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest! Sarah is on quite a roll, as this is her second win of the month! She also joins the prestigious three-time winners club, alongside Jacob Rasmussen. Sarah follows last week’s winner, Kim Konradi.
If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took previous to the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves another facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Monday to Sunday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Monday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Wednesday and Gini Mascorro will read your name on the air at the end of her daily arts calendar.
Now, more from Sarah:
Title of photo: Dallas Dimensions
Equipment: Canon Rebel XSi with Kit lens 18-55mm.
Tell us more about your photo: I had the pleasure of joining 50-plus photographers on Scott Kelby’s International Photowalk this year through the West End in Dallas, and more than 30,000 photographers worldwide! Our group met at Sonny Bryan’s on N. Market in the West End, and as I met up with the group I glanced around the DART Stop and discovered this tiny model of Dallas. On a whim I took two shots, one looking down at the model, and this shot — looking through it. This unaimed, from-the-hip shot is now one of my all time favorites. Besides being a fun shot, it reminds of one of the many reasons I love this town … no matter where you go, there is always something new and surprising to find.
