The Dallas Symphony has released its second CD under the baton of music director Jaap van Zweden — just in time for the 20th anniversary celebration of the Meyerson and the DSO’s second season with van Zweden. The CD is a live recording from an August 2009 [erformance of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony and his Capriccio Italien — the performance of the Fifth was hailed by Scott Cantrell in the DMN, the Capriccio got props from La Scena Musicale.
I originally listed this as the DSO’s first recording with van Zweden but Scott told me the symphony released a pair of Beethoven symphonies. I thought they had, too, but concluded my memory was playing tricks on me when I couldn’t find it at Amazon or a couple of other CD sites. But there it is, at the Dallas Symphony website.
