SUMMER OF SHAKESPEARE: Summer officially arrives this week, which means the season of Shakespeare is upon us. This year, Shakespeare Dallas is offering Coriolanus and Twelfth Night while Trinity Shakespeare Festival presents The Merry Wives of Windsor and The Merchant of Venice. Those shows require skilled actors, which fortunately they have, Lawson Taitte writes on dallasnews.com.
CALLING ALL DESIGNERS: To commemorate the 25th edition of VideoFest, the festival is holding a contest for anyone interested in designing this year’s T-shirt. The requirements leave a lot of room to roam – all you really need to include are the details about this year’s event, a color scheme of red, white and black and the VideoFest mascot, which isn’t mandatory. The winner takes home a pass to the festival and other goodies. Details on how to enter are on the festival’s website.
ARTS DISTRICT UPDATE: Construction on City Performance Hall is humming along a little ahead of schedule. The city-operated space in the Arts District is earmaked for small and medium-size organizations and should be ready to go by the end of August, according to Unfair Park. Which performer will open the venue remains a mystery.
