He really takes off around the 1:25 mark and again, around 3:20. It’s the contrast between the popping — the stop-start contortions — and the loose, liquid flow. If ballet is about the dancer taking flight, leaving the ground like a bird, the body becoming immaterial, this is the dancer’s body as malfunctioning equipment — changing instantly to the body as rolling wave.
