If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Monday to Sunday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Monday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Wednesday.
Now, here’s more from Samarpita:
Tell us more about your photo:I visited the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden to see the amazing glass sculptures by Dale Chihuly with my colleagues last week. I had seen photos of the glass boat near the lake, and I knew sunset would be the perfect time to get the shot I had in mind. The day we visited started out as extremely cloudy, and I was afraid I wouldn’t get any decent shots. But luck was on my side and the skies cleared out by midday. I found the perfect spot next to the infinity pool and set up to take this shot. I waited for about an hour along with several avid photographers who were also seeking that perfect shot at that spot. A 13 second exposure later, this came out pretty much as I has envisioned.
I owe this shot to Dale Chihuly’s creativity and the Dallas Arboretum’s artistic placement of his sculptures! My extremely supportive and loving husband, who lets me explore my hobbies to my heart’s content, deserves a mention! I must also note that my colleagues were very patient with me and let me spend as much time as I wanted at this one spot! I thank them for that!
